DESCRIPTION

Sakura Ferroalloys is a tripartite joint venture among South Africa’s Assmang Ptd Ltd., Japan’s Sumitomo Corp, and Taiwan’s China Steel Corp. The company is a producer of high carbon ferromanganese and silicon manganese, supplying the international market.

Sakura project is a greenfield project executed by Metix (Pty) Ltd. which consists of two 81 MVA furnaces that manufacture high carbon ferromanganese and silicon manganese. Each furnace is designed to produce both products. The smelting plant is designed to produce 110,000 tpy of ferromanganese and 72,000 tpy of silicon manganese.
