Gentilly Nuclear Generating Station is a Canadian nuclear power station located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River in Bécancour, Quebec, 100 km north east of Montreal.
The Gentilly-2 CANDU pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR) is owned and operated by Hydro-Quebec. It has a gross output of 675 MWe. Gentilly-2 was one of the first 700 MWe class CANDU 6 plants to be built. Its construction began in 1974, and it went into service in 1983.
Progesys offered construction management services to Hydro-Quebec for the project of Gentilly-2 refurbishment at Bécancour, Quebec, Canada. Progesys’ construction supervisors worked within the Hydro-Quebec team dedicated to the construction management activities.
On October 3rd, 2012 Hydro Quebec announced the decommissioning of the Gentilly-2 generating station.
